About Apalachee River Animal Hospital

Apalachee River Animal Hospital is proud to serve the Dacula, GA area for everything pet-related.

Our Story

Apalachee River Animal Hospital has been serving Dacula under the direction of Drs. Randy and Destiny Prezzano since June 2011. The Prezzanos wanted a practice that would offer high-quality veterinary care similar to large corporate practices in major metropolitan areas, but that has a more personal feel and make clients feel like they are family. Apalachee River Animal Hospital strives toward this goal in all we do. Excellent Care for Exceptional Pets is our motto and we try to provide excellent care in all aspects of our practice. You will be greeted by one of our experienced veterinary receptionists that will schedule your visit to our practice, making sure that when you arrive you are quickly welcomed in for your pet’s service. We value your time and want to make your visit as thorough yet efficient as possible. We offer drop-off services for your convenience, as well as daycare, boarding, and bathing.

When you bring your pet in for their first veterinary visit, we take the time to get to know you and your pet so that the best recommendations can be made, both for preventative care as well as for sick care. If your pet is extra nervous about coming to the vet, we are happy to offer solutions to try and take away some of their anxiety. We utilize fear-free techniques to make the visit as comfortable as possible for your pet.

For routine and less urgent sick visits, we try to schedule your pet with the same veterinarian on a regular basis. We feel this provides the best long-term care as it gives our doctors an opportunity to really get to know your pet and better note small changes in their health.

If your pet is sick, we want to see them as soon as possible. Therefore we reserve same-day sick appointments for our patients, so there is always room to see your pet if they are sick. Occasionally, we may feel it is in your pet’s best interest to be seen by an emergency hospital or specialist. We work closely with a number of referral and emergency centers in the area and will help facilitate those visits for you.

While your pet is under our care, they will be treated by experienced veterinarians and veterinary nurses. We have extensive diagnostic equipment in-house and offer digital X-rays, digital dental X-rays, ultrasound, echocardiogram, and an in-house laboratory. Most of our patient’s needs can be met right here with the use of these diagnostic tools and the expertise of our veterinarians. All of our anesthetic procedures are monitored by an experienced veterinary nurse and the patient’s blood pressure, ECG, blood oxygen levels, and CO2 are measured with specialized equipment. Laser surgery is offered for many surgical procedures and post-operative pain management is augmented with cold laser therapy when able.

Beyond our veterinary services, we offer boarding and medical boarding to our patients. Our boarding facility offers veterinary-supervised boarding, with a team of caring and attentive kennel assistants that love your pet while you are away. Pets are exercised in an outdoor fenced yard and offered extra playtime at your request. Ask for a tour of our kennel when you come in for your visit!

We are deeply committed to our community and strive to take care of our patients and their owners to the very best of our ability. We hope to be a part of your family’s health team and a friend to you and your pet.
