Associate Veterinarian
Associate Veterinarian
Part-time or full-time veterinarian opportunity available in growing suburban community about 30-40 minutes from Athens or Atlanta, GA. Dacula, GA offers easy access to I-85 or SR 316, is close to the Mall of Georgia area, and offers an excellent community to grow in.
Apalachee River Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian but will consider an eager new graduate looking for mentorship. Our modern, 7,000 square foot facility is well equipped with laser surgery, cold laser therapy, Sound Elkin digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound and echocardiogram, Surgivet monitoring equipment as well as a highly trained technical staff to support our veterinarians with an average of 2:1 ratio of assistants to veterinarians. Veterinary Technician
Veterinary Technician
Apalachee River Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinary technician to join our team of 4 doctors and 20 support staff. We know the value of our technicians and utilize them to their fullest potential. Apalachee River Animal hospital is equipped with digital dental radiography, digital radiography, ultrasound, therapeutic and surgical lasers as well as extensive patient monitoring equipment. We follow the AAFP and AAHA guidelines for vaccination, pain management, and are a Cat-Friendly Practice. We are looking for the right candidate that wants to join our 7 consecutive years of Best of Gwinnett practice and continue to make it better.
The ideal candidate would have multiple years of veterinary technician experience, be registered in Georgia or eligible for registration and have a strong work ethic. - Assist with appointments
- Assist with drop-offs and patient pre-surgical preparation
- Assist with surgeries and dental cleanings
- Perform routine laboratory analyses
- Prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis
- Administer treatments to hospitalized patients
- Initiate and assist with emergency procedures

- Enter bloodwork, vitals, and other information into patient record

Kennel Technician
Kennel Technician
Apalachee River Animal Hospital is seeking an individual to join our team of kennel technicians. The kennel technicians are an integral part of the hospital, providing care for our patients in a relaxed and comfortable setting. Though we board plenty of healthy, young animals, many of our boarders have special medical needs that require the collaboration of the kennel technician and the hospital staff.
The kennel technician is responsible for the general care of our boarding patients including feeding, walking, bathing, and administering medications. The kennel technicians work closely with our veterinary staff to ensure each patient is comfortable. This is a great opportunity for someone with animal experience to learn more about veterinary medicine and be part of a medical team.

Job Title: Kennel Care Counselor
General Description of Position: The Kennel Technician is responsible for the basic care of boarding and hospitalized patients and maintaining a clean, fully stocked hospital.
Job Requirements / Skills / Physical Demands: Basic knowledge of animal husbandry, compassion for animals, basic computer training, physical ability to walk, lift large dogs (50#), bend / kneel down, legible writing, maintain a professional appearance and able to work on weekends and holidays.
Reports to: Practice Manager / Veterinarians
Supervises: No one
Essential Functions:
- Set up and discharge boarders, baths, and grooms
- Provide care for all dogs and cats including walking dogs, cleaning runs and cages, feeding and medicating
- Laundry
- Maintain hospital and kennel facilities (cleaning, minor maintenance, equipment care)
- Restock supplies in treatment area and exam rooms
- Yard maintenance
- Weekend and holiday kennels
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must be able to lift 50#
- Candidates should be service-oriented and maintain a professional appearance and manage themselves professionally at all times

Groomer
Experienced Pet Groomer
We are looking for an experienced groomer that would like to service our clientele and theirs. We can also offer an alternative employment option with our company as a commissioned-based employee.
Job expectations:
- Grooming from start to finish – including, bathing, drying, brushing, de-matting, nail trimming, anal gland expression, haircutting, hand scissoring, ear cleaning, teeth brushing-
- Consult with the client at the start of the appointment about work to be done
- Clearly explain the grooming process for clients
- Recommend services based on the needs of the pet/client
- Give clients an estimate of the cost for the service and how long it will take
- Work with the front desk to coordinate proper appointment scheduling and communication with clients
- Keep detailed notes of grooming work performed including before & after photos
- Monitor health and well-being of pet(s) during grooming
- Consult with client after grooming about future grooming/health needs/recommendations
- Keep timely appointment schedule
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Safely handle pets of all sizes & temperaments
In addition to bathing and styling a pet’s fur, groomers inspect the animal for any external signs of parasites, disease, or injury and report their findings to owners. Pet groomers are responsible for sanitizing all of the clippers, combs, brushes, and other tools used on pets to prevent spreading diseases among their clients. They must also maintain a safe and sanitary work area to mitigate risks to both human and animal visitors.

Customer Service Representative
Customer Service Representative
We are looking for an experienced Customer Service Representative that can provide front-line client service while serving as a liaison between the client and the veterinarian.
The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to multi-task and assist clients with the check-in and check-out process while maintaining a warm and efficient persona. They will also have the ability to use basic office machinery and have basic computer knowledge–proficiency with Microsoft office suite and veterinary operating software is preferred. This person should be able to handle multiple phone lines professionally and efficiently while maintaining a professional front even during busy or stressful times. At least one year of veterinary experience is required.
Job Title: Customer Service Representative
General Description of Position: The Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing front-line client service while serving as a liaison between client and veterinarian.
Job Requirements / Skills / Physical Demands: Technical experience or formal schooling required, excellent technical and communication skills, ability to handle all animals and ability to multi-task, basic computer training, general knowledge of inventory, excellent telephone skills, ability to use basic office machinery
Reports to: Practice Manager / DVM
Supervises: No one
Essential Functions:
- Answer phones in a friendly and professional manner
- Make appointments for routine and sick visits, surgeries, drop-offs, boarding, and grooming
- Manage multiple phone lines efficiently
- Take accurate messages and deliver them in a timely fashion
- Route clinical calls efficiently and correctly
- Take and deliver prescription refill request
- Greet clients and process appointments efficiently and in a friendly manner
- Update vaccine status, recommend needed vaccinations
- Maintain cleanliness of patient exam rooms as well as reception area
- Escort clients to appropriate exam room, notify technicians of appointment, be sure clients are seen in a reasonable time
- Create and update patient files in computer system
- Know how to print relevant forms. Ensure that client fills out forms properly
- Understand and be able to explain vaccine protocols for cats and dogs
- Understand and be able to explain special programs such as senior and dental programs
- Understand when intestinal parasite checks or heartworm checks are warranted
- Understand and be able to discuss all flea, tick, and heartworm preventions
- Ensure all vaccines are up-to-date and appropriate paperwork is provided by the time of admission
- Understand and explain pre-anesthetic and annual health screen bloodwork testing for dogs and cats
- Call no-shows to reschedule
- Process payments from clients at the time of service and record on client’s accounts
- Adequately explain charges to the client
- Give printed computer receipt for each transaction
- Ensure money drawer balances
- Run end of day reports
- Send thank you cards to clients who have referred others. Send welcome letters to new clients
- Refer angry clients to the appropriate person when necessary
- Report any dissatisfied clients to the Practice Manager or Veterinarian
- All other duties as may arise in normal daily functioning of the hospital or as requested by management
